Round tablers, it may be 2006 - but in our hearts, it is still 1925. So let us talk.
Recently a few of us have mentioned a book club. I for one have heartily agreed this. I generally think the procedure will go as follows:
1. Someone nominates a book.
2. We all read it.
3. We all discuss what we liked, or didn't like about it back here a month later.
4. See 1.
Quite, quite simple, but oh, so effective. Now we have had a suggestion of Hemingway. I for one like the sound of The Sun Also Rises.
All in favour say 'Aye'!
Yeah! I'm in. Here is my plan: tomorrow I will go to the library and get The Sun Also Rises out. Then I'll start reading it. Well I guess that's pretty obvious :) And if you and whoever else is doing the same thing at the same time we can post updates on how we're going and what we think etc! Who else is in?
There doesn't seem to be too many of us at the moment round the table. Most are probably passed out under it still recovering from the New Year festivities.
But anyway. For a second I thought that posting as we go would be a good idea - then it occurred to me that some of us may read faster than others and it might spoil the plot a bit! So if we start tomorrow, then that makes it the 15th February that we 'meet' to post our comments. If we find doing it that way doesn't work so good, we'll try something else!
Oh, I'm so excited!
